I do not think it is okay just to text Happy Father's Day to Dad instead of calling Dad! Nobody is so busy that they do not have the time to honor Dad with a phone call on Father's Day or to send a card.
Remember that Dad will not be around forever.
Texting is okay for many things if you do not want a response immediately. If you talk to someone you will get a response or a reaction immediately. If you always use just "texting" for communication you will loose your communication skills completely.
People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.
